Terms of Use

Welcome to Kosher Without Borders. These Terms of Use ("Terms") are a legal agreement between you and Kosher Without Borders LLC governing your use of our mobile apps and website (together, the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

1. The Service

Kosher Without Borders is a directory of kosher restaurants, markets, wineries, synagogues, minyanim, eruvin, and related information worldwide. We provide this information to help you find kosher options, but we do not operate, endorse, certify, or guarantee any listed place.

2. Kashrut and accuracy disclaimer

Important: Listings, kosher status, certifications ("hechsherim"), hours, and other details are provided for general information only and may be incomplete, out of date, or inaccurate. Kosher supervision can change at any time. You are responsible for independently verifying the kosher status and current supervision of any establishment before eating, purchasing, or relying on it. Kosher Without Borders is not a kosher-certifying agency and does not guarantee the kashrut of any place or product.

What we mean by "kosher."

When we describe a place as kosher, we mean kosher under Orthodox rabbinic supervision. Orthodox kosher supervision is not uniform — it spans a range of standards and levels of stringency, and a certification (hechsher) that is acceptable to one person or community may not be acceptable to another. Standards of kashrut are personal, and what is right for you depends on your own practice. Especially when traveling, we encourage you to check with your own local Orthodox rabbi to confirm whether the supervision shown for a given place meets your standards before relying on it.

3. Your account

You may need an account to use certain features. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your credentials secure, and are responsible for activity under your account. You can delete your account at any time from within the app.

4. Your content

You may post reviews, ratings, recommendations, suggestions, photos, and other content ("User Content"). You keep ownership of your User Content, and you grant Kosher Without Borders a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, host, display, reproduce, and distribute it in connection with operating and promoting the Service, including features that let you share recommendations with other users or the public. You are responsible for your User Content and represent that you have the rights to post it and that it is accurate and not unlawful, misleading, or offensive.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• post false, misleading, abusive, defamatory, harassing, hateful, or unlawful content;
• impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation;
• submit spam, or abuse reporting, review, or suggestion features;
• interfere with or disrupt the Service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, its accounts, or its systems;
• access or use the Service through any automated means — including bots, scrapers, crawlers, spiders, or scripts — without our prior written permission;
• scrape, crawl, harvest, copy, extract, index, cache, republish, sell, redistribute, or otherwise reuse our listings, directory, database, or any other content of the Service, in whole or in part, whether manually or automatically, for any purpose — including to build, populate, train, verify, or supply a competing product, service, or database — without our prior written permission;
• use the Service to violate any law or the rights of others.

We may remove content or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

6. Communications

By using the Service, you agree that we may contact you as described in our Privacy Policy, including app-related and promotional emails, from which you can opt out at any time. If you provide a phone number, we may contact you by SMS or WhatsApp in the future, and you can opt out at any time.

7. Third-party places and links

The Service references third-party places and may contain links to third-party websites or services (for example, maps, directions, or a restaurant's own site). We are not responsible for third parties or their content, and your dealings with them are at your own risk.

8. Intellectual property

The Service, including its content, design, logos, software, and the compilation, selection, and arrangement of our listings and directory data (excluding User Content), is owned by Kosher Without Borders or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property and other laws. Our directory and database are proprietary, and no license or right to them is granted to you except the limited right to use the Service for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from them without our prior written permission.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including accuracy, kashrut, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Kosher Without Borders and its owners, employees, and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss arising from your use of (or inability to use) the Service or from reliance on any listing, including kosher status.

11. Changes and termination

We may modify or discontinue the Service, or update these Terms, at any time. If we make material changes to these Terms, we will post the updated version and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service means you accept the changes. We may suspend or terminate your access at any time.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to Kosher Without Borders LLC, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
